After the children were settled, Miss Schmidt kindly announced, "Let's say goodbye to the Moms and Dads now." ...Ouch! When I taught K, i remember using that same line every first day of school. Definitely intended more for the parents rather than the students.
... Hard for me to leave at this point. I did though, I filed out of the room along with the other Moms and Dads, all of us trying to catch a last glimpse of our babies. I was brave all the way home, then burst into tears upon entering the Homestead.
