(from February)
*This afternoon Porter wanted me to read him the books he had checked out from the library. Tarantulas and then Stink bugs. After a half hour of reading I was thoroughly creeped out and no longer hungry for dinner.
*We finally made it to Trader Joe's in January. Yippe! We fought the crowds for our fresh cut flowers and favorite salsas. On the way home Jack fell asleep. Jack, our lion-headed child.

*Thursday night I was helping J get his jammies on. Apparently I pulled them up a little too high. In frustration and despair he asked me to please not make him look like Humpty Dumpty.
*Porter enjoyed a ninja party on Saturday
he came home totally ninja-d out and threw Chinese stars at his siblings the rest of the evening.

... if you're wondering my name in ninjaese is mekuta arikufu
*Called him home from the neighbors for dinner. Pouty face that he can only hold with me for about 2 seconds before he bursts out with laughter. You can see the smile starting to creep in :)
*Fresh hair cuts and games on the iphone
*Fuzzy heads waiting for homemade blueberry muffins
*Pirate Jack with "life saver" and Army Jack protecting our home from bad guys who shoot hot lava
(lyrics to a song i like)
little boy
when you speak
i can't help but
kiss your cheeks
I love the way
you grab my hands
and tell me all
about your plans
rocket high
comets fly
you and i
could hitch a ride
fly away to Neverland
give our best to Peter Pan
when you reach for the stars
don't forget who you are
and please don't turn around
and grow up way too fast
I know before i know it and before i'm probably ready for it they will be grown. Porter will be getting ready to graduate high school and Jack will be driving. Crazy.
So... I cherish these days and moments with my boys. Waking up some mornings to find Jack nestled between Ryan and I, Porter always wanting to hold my hand... even the constant noise and wrestling one another, pulling suction darts off my windows, or avoiding army guys and legos that have been left out on the floor (ouch!)
I love their little voices and expressions, their stories and jokes, their excited faces... smiling, telling me all about everything...
I love watching them quietly look at a book, or studying the designs on one of the marbles in their collection. I love watching them build something- with blocks or play-doh, or legos... sometimes with their little tongues sticking out slightly to the side in deep concentration (just like their Dad).
They are going to grow up and be such wonderful men. Wonderful husbands and fathers someday.
For now though... someday can wait :)
