If you didn't know... I'm big on April Fools Day! Well, not really. But my Mom and I played a few harmless April Fools tricks on each other when I was a teenager, and it was so fun and funny... because you just don't expect it from your Mom! And because I still laugh about it- most 1st days of April my family can expect a little fool or two.
Anyway, this year I was washing lunch dishes in the sink after Conference and with a shocked expression and surprised voice announced there was a crocodile in our backyard! The kids flew to the window searching anxiously for the dangerous reptile. "Where, where?" they shouted until I exclaimed, "April Fools!"
Sophie couldn't believe her Mom had tricked her while Porter was just confused about the whole thing still scanning the backyard for the animal. Porter finally caught on that the whole thing was a joke and spent the rest of the afternoon trying to fool me by saying, "Mommy there's a giraffe in the backyard," or "Look, a hippo!"
Sophie did get a chance to fool her mother right back by telling me a few hours later that J had a stinky diaper. I went to change him and low and behold he was clean as a whistle and she was peering around the doorway giggling.
But the best and most unexpected came from Ryan. Some of our neighbors have been experiencing a mouse problem. If you didn't know... I'm terrified of mice! Really. As i turned down the covers for bed I found this little surprise made from one of Jack's socks....
So fake and ridiculous, a sock and shoe lace... and look at those pathetic eyes! But of course I screamed and ran for my life :)
