Sophie and Porter are the whip cream on my sundae.  No really, I'm not trying to be cheesy! What I 'm saying is that they make my life sweet and special.  Actually they make my life what it is ... wonderful.  I thank my Father in Heaven everyday for the privilege of being their mother!

Moments with my boy:

Sophie had her favorite stuffed animal taken away for some bad behavior.  The little Guinea pig, referred to lovingly as "Guiney" was put on top of the fridge out of reach.  Sophie was clinging to the fridge in desperation and balling her eyes out.  Porter witnessing this immediately sought to comfort his sister.  He rubbed her back until she calmed down, then she turned and they stood hugging for a few minutes.  It was such a sweet moment.  I shed tears observing from the next room.

Porter's little face is usually the first thing I see in the morning.  Climbing up onto our bed smiling, he snuggles for a few moments, then takes my face in his hands and says, "Mommy, breakfast," and lately since Ryan picked some groceries up the other day, "Mommy, Daddy's Wheaties."

Even though Porter loves to cuddle with his Mommy and imitate his sister with phrases like "oh, cute" he is a total man's man.  He loves anything to do with sports and always manages to find a ball wherever we go.  Yesterday we were in Old Navy buying him a new summer hat when he spotted a huge machine full of bouncy balls.  Pleas for a new ball were made and lucky for him I had a quarter on me.  I think it's left his hands maybe a couple of times since.  As a side note when we were getting ready to leave, I asked him to put back a football he had picked up (of course) on the way to the register.  When I glanced back I didn't see him anywhere, then some women burst into laughter upon entering the store.  Looking over I saw Porter standing perfectly still (and smiling) in front of one of the child mannequins that was exactly his height. He had been standing right in front of me, but had completely blended in.  Already playing tricks on mom, oh boy!

Conversations with my girl:

Tonight during dinner Sophie wanted to discuss why animals don't need to wear sunscreen and how neat that Heavenly Father blessed them to be able to be out in the sun all day and not get burned. :)

A few weeks ago we were gathering for family night when Sophie suggested that she would like to give the lesson.  Ry and I told her that would be great.  She then preceded to show us a picture from the Ensign of a family.  She talked about the importance of a family and of family night as a special time to learn about Jesus and the scriptures.  She then went on to tell about the Creation, Adam and Eve, the Fall, life on earth and returning to our Father in Heaven after we pass away.  (Whenever Sophie talks about someone dying she uses the term "pass away" even if she's talking about a  dead worm on the sidewalk.  "Look Mommy, that little worm passed away.")  Anyway, she basically gave an outline of the plan of salvation concluding with her testimony.  Needless to say once again I let a few tears go.  That girl is awesome and Ryan and I are constantly amazed by her.

The day after we had our ultrasound, I found Sophie madly dusting our hutch in the family room.  I complimented her for doing such a great job and then she told me that she was just getting the house ready for the new baby.  So sweet.

That was a really sweet post. I almost shed a tear imagining everything. You owe yourself some huge credit for having such good kids.
