Back to the Land of My Birth

It's always hard to return to reality after vacation.  Last week we were on the beach playing in the sun, today I'm cleaning toilets and doing laundry.  Sigh.  That's okay, work makes us appreciate our free time right!

This trip home to California took us to Santa Cruz to spend some time with my family.  We had a wonderful time, although the days always pass too quickly, and we find that we are never able to visit all the people and places we'd hoped to.

Sophie is a true water baby.  That girl loves the beach!  She could have played there sun up to sun down every day of our vacation.  Porter enjoyed running around chasing balls (of course) and digging in the sand, but the waves terrified him.  Whenever we tried to take him in the water he would just cry his little eyes out.  He was content with the sun, sand and eating snacks under the umbrella.

Below are some fun shots of the trip, they include; tide pools, beach, Monterey, surfing, roasting marsh mellows, local ice cream, family fun and even yes a sea lion and a mermaid!  Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to snap a shot of the older gentleman in cat ears and stretchy cat pants, wrapped in an American flag who passed by our house in the 4th of July parade... so Santa Cruz!  Enjoy!

Yep- I left a comment saying that it looks like you guys had a blast and that I'm jealous! I miss human contact. Sometimes I go to the grocery store just so I can talk to the checker. How do you stop yourself from baby-talking to Ryan when he gets home after hanging with Sophie and Porter all day? It must be hard. I sometimes just stare at Mark like he's a computer. Or the washing machine.

So how are the baby shower plans coming along? Let me know when and what I can do!

And, yes, you can come along for the makeover. First, we'll plant a money tree. Then, we'll shop.
