Birthday Wishes

Quick recap on Jack's special day:

Little Mr. had a wonderful 4th birthday.  He woke up to our birthday tradition of a bedroom full of balloons!  They were in festive candy corn colors chosen by Sophie and Porter, perfect for October I think!!  He munched on his requested blueberry muffins for breakfast with a smiling face and chose Airborne Trampoline Arena (just like brother) for his birthday activity!

My Birthday was just this last Saturday.  I love birthdays... I mean, I really love birthdays! Ryan would say it's the one time of year I really take time for myself- without one bit of guilt.  This is probably true even though I don't want to admit it.
So here goes...
My birthday agenda/activities for 2013:
Ryan taking the morning off from basketball so I could sleep in (that didn't really happen though, my internal alarm clock woke me up a 6:30).
Enjoyed the quiet for a few moments, thinking of my plan for the day and of my blessings-recent and of these past 35 years.
Porter coming in at 6:45 with a sleepy happy face- get up, test Porter, get him his injection and cereal- everyone starting to get up, then exiled to my room to await further instructions :)
Everyone coming into my bedroom, jumping on me and singing 'Happy Birthday'
Breakfast making by hubby and kids (with tears about who was in charge of what, tears over who would get to sit by mommy at the table, and tears over falling off the kitchen stool trying to help... me listening (and giggling) to Ry manage the excitement and drama) while getting ready for the day.
Kisses and hugs and off to my Haircut.
Lunch with molly at Normandie.......Mmmmm
Sweet texts from family and friends while I Christmas shopped all afternoon (by myself!) -in and out of stores quickly, no carseats, no whining or tantrums.... ahhhhh ( remember this Kelsey... this is good for you!)
Home at 6 with dinner waiting, soup and bread...yum, the house decorated and my favorite cupcakes for dessert.

The best part about this:  Ryan actually decorated this one.  I told him how cute the backwards three was thinking one of the kids did it.  He laughed right out loud and said that he knew something didn't look right... awesome!

Then I opened gifts.
Then I cried my eyes out over the most wonderful homemade notes and cards from my kiddos while I hugged and squeezed and kissed them.

Put the kids to bed and enjoyed a quiet evening with my best friend.  He told me about their afternoon playing ball at the park and Jack riding home as fast as he could on his scooter ahead of everyone else. When they got home they couldn't find him.  Then Porter discovered him in their closet devouring one of my freshly baked birthday cupcakes.  He tried to hide the evidence but I guess the chocolate frosting all over his face gave him away :)

I am blessed :)

Halloween 2013

Happy Halloween!!

Thursday the 31st we had our annual Halloween party.  Molly, Nick and Ben joined us for chili, yummy apps and mummy dogs.

(Porter after dinner super excited to get going
and begin the trick r treating!)
 almost ready... waiting for sister
 the brave knight
 the elegant peacock
 the captain
We met up with friends for candy fest 2013
Ben with our neighbor buddy Bryson who also happened to be a firefighter
check out that sweet ride!

 Rrrrr! Check out me loot!!
Comparing candy stashes at the end of the night
After saying goodbye to friends and family we enjoyed our traditional after treating Halloween cocoa...

... games, stories and songs.
This year we played Halloween bingo.  One of the prizes in my Halloween tub was a small eyeball whoopie cushion.  Porter won it and he and Jack played with it the rest of the night!  Really, it never got old for them... they were in hysterics on the floor! I think they would have traded all their candy combined for that thing!  Boys!!!!

Halloween Eve

Wednesday night was Halloween Eve and that meant one thing for the Sorenson Family...
Pumpkin carving/Jack o Lantern festivities!!!

After dinner we cleared the table and got to work

After the designs were complete the drilling began
and masterpieces were created thanks to Daddy
Jack, Porter and Sophie pumpkins
It got so late Ryan and I opted out of carving masterpieces this year.  My pumpkin did get a nice coat of silver spray paint though!

Beach House 2013 Part 3

Enjoying Monterey and the Aquarium

We also had the opportunity one afternoon to catch up with my cousin Laura and her husband Steve and cute kids.
We went miniature golfing at the Boardwalk, bbq'd, and roasted marsh mellows... and I introduced them to strawberry fluff... it was a hit!

Sparkler fun :)

Another happy day at the beach... just us :)  This was possibly my favorite day...
